Three Rome men are now in the Floyd County Jail after being indicted Friday by a Grand Jury for the murder of Derricus Smith.
Reports said that Smith was shot and killed on May 21, 2022, on Perkins Street in North Rome.
The three, Justin Antonio Glynn, 20, Malachai Alexander Williams, 20, Corey Lashun Chatman Jr., 18, were indicted for malice murder, murder, participation of gang acts, aggravated assault, battery, simple battery, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
Police are still searching for a fourth suspect in the case.

Just after midnight on Saturday, May 21, Rome City Police Officers received a call of shots fired on Reservation Street. Upon officer’s arrival and checking area, no evidence of a shooting had taken place. Two hours later, officers received another call of a fight on Perkins Street, while en-route officers were updated that a male subject that had been shot and was laying in the roadway not breathing.
Upon the officer’s arrival, a young black male with an apparent gunshot to the head was located. An officer attempted first aid and was unsuccessful. Witnesses on the scene advised of a Black Dodge Challenger with several subjects jumping in it leaving the area prior to officers’ arrival.
