Martha Ann Childers, age 87, passed away at home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, after an extended illness.
A life-long native of Floyd County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe B. Bynum and Margaret Evelyn Ivey Bynum. Martha was a graduate of Pepperell high School. She was married for 67 years to E.M. “Buddy” Childers who also preceded her in death. Martha retired from Sara Hightower Regional Library after a successful career in the audio-visual department.
Martha enjoyed a name change at the birth of her first grandchild, Grant, when she lovingly became known as “Mimi”, not only to all of her grandchildren but also to her friends and family. Anyone who knew Mimi, knew that the loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, cooking, her dogs, QVC (who incidentally filed for bankruptcy the day of her passing), and Riverside Baptist Church. If you were privileged enough to get an invitation to one of her holiday meals, you really experienced true southern cooking.
Survivors include her 2 children, Mark Childers (Melissa), and Ann Childers Moss (Pat); and 3 grandchildren, Grant Moss (Anna Kate), Grayson Moss (Sydnee), and Sara Caroline Childers.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Riverside Baptist Church, with Pastor Randy Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Riverside Baptist Church on Wednesday from 12pm until 1:45pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the Church on Wednesday at 1:30pm and include: David Bishop, Cary McCullough, Michael Skeen, Chuck Self, Gary Self, and Jacob Lambert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 48 Ash St. NE, Rome, GA 30161.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Martha Ann Childers.
