An inmate at the Floyd County Adult Detention Center, Demarius Tyrese Hodges, 21 of Rome, is facing new charges after reports said he beat another inmate on the head and upper torso while participating in a gang beating.
Reports added that the victim was left with numerous visible injuries.
Police added that Hodges was acting as a member of the Eastside Killer Bloods gang while committing the beating.
Authorities added that Hodges was attempting to “increase his status in the gang” as the reason for the beating.
Hodges is now charged with unlawful acts in a penal institution, two counts battery, and two counts association in gang activity .
