Bartow County deputies arrested two individuals after responding to reports of gunfire at a residence on Whistle Stop Drive near Cartersville last week.

Upon their arrival, 19-year-old Jack Walker Webb informed the deputies that he had received a warning indicating that someone was threatening to shoot up the party at his house. He reported that a group of unknown individuals arrived in a white pickup truck. Following the threat, Webb said he retrieved his firearms for protection.

He reportedly approached the individuals in the truck, racked a round in his handgun, and attempted several times to persuade them to leave. According to Webb, the vehicle initially pulled away but then turned around and slowly rolled back toward his residence. He said he took a defensive position behind a tree in his yard, firearm in hand.

Webb stated that the truck stopped in front of his house, and he heard someone inside say they would prefer just to start shooting. He then allegedly heard a gunshot fired from within the truck, prompting him to return fire.

During this purported exchange of gunfire, a 2009 Toyota Camry began to pull away. Unsure of who was shooting at him, Webb fired at the Camry as well. He estimated that he discharged a total of about eight rounds.

Another individual had come to Webb’s residence to drop off a sober driver. Multiple rounds struck her vehicle, including one that went through the driver’s side windshield, narrowly missing her.

Deputies arrested Jack Webb for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree, two counts of criminal damage to property in the first degree, and one count of discharging a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway.

According to warrants, Webb assaulted a juvenile female and two adult males with a rifle by firing numerous rounds from his front yard and hitting their three vehicles while they were traveling on the roadway. The warrants also state that Jack Webb intentionally fired numerous rounds from a rifle from his front yard into a house across the street to his left, causing damage to the home.

Deputies also arrested 20-year-old Adam Jason Lynn of Augusta for reckless conduct and discharging a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway. Warrants state that he fired a round from a semi-automatic pistol into the air from his vehicle while on the roadway.
