Ray Ellis Carver, 59 of Armuchee, was arrested this week after police said he jumped into a lake to evade arrest after attacking a woman at a home on Floyd Springs Road.
Reports said that Carver grabbed the victim by the shirt, which placed her in fear of receiving harm.
Police added that Carver violated a court order to stay away from the woman when committing the acts.
Carver is charged with simple battery, obstruction and aggravated stalking.
