James Elvis Garrett II, 42 of Lindale, was arrested this week after police said he allowed his 14 year-old son to miss over 73 days of school this year.
Police said that they notified Garrett in February that his son was not to miss additional days of school without a doctor’s note. However, Garrett continued to allow his son to stay out of school without an excuse.
Garrett is then accused of withdrawing his son for a homeschool program but never registered him.
Garrett is charged with the mandatory education of children.
