A Whitfield County man was arrested on multiple charges after detectives with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit encountered him while conducting a narcotics investigation along Highway 41 North.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives were working in the area when they encountered Francisco Javier Fraire, resulting in a separate arrest.
Fraire was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, giving a false name and date of birth, possession of drug-related objects and driving with a suspended license.
Authorities also reported that Fraire had previously been deported from the United States as an aggravated felon.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed an immigration detainer on Fraire, who remains in custody at the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, according to officials.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The sheriff’s office said additional information may be released as it becomes available and when doing so will not compromise the investigation.
