Mrs. Monzie “Pat” Shierling Nelson, age 89, of Rome

Mrs. Monzie “Pat” Shierling Nelson, age 89, of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at a local healthcare facility.

       Pat was born in Tallapoosa, GA on July 8, 1937, daughter of the late James Henry Shierling and the late Alma Marie Shierling. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert D. Nelson, Sr. She was a devoted member at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church for many years. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and faithful wife.

       Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jaci Wilson, Russell Sanders, and James Sanders; her grandchildren, Mackenzie Ivie, Haley Hughes, Jason Sanders, Jessica Davenport, Jordan Sanders, Austin Sanders, and Matthew Sanders; numerous great grandchildren.

       The family will have a private graveside service on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Floyd Memory Gardens with Pastor Brady Wood officiating.
