Rev. Charles L. Blalock, age 79, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 19, 1947, in Rome, Georgia, Charles was the son of the late Harry L. Blalock and Blanche V. Blalock (formerly Jennings). In addition to his beloved parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Ross Blalock.
A native of Lindale, Georgia, Charles grew up in the community and graduated from Pepperell High School. Following high school, he continued his education at Berry College, graduating in 1969. He later attended the University of Georgia, where he earned his six-year specialist degree, and went on to receive his Doctorate in Ministry from Covington Theological Seminary.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. His dedication to serving others extended far beyond his military service. A man of deep and abiding faith, Charles loved the Lord and faithfully served as associate pastor of Bush Arbor Baptist Church.
Charles enjoyed staying active and embracing the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed playing golf and softball, as well as competing in a bowling and a tennis league. Charles also possessed a true sense of adventure and was never afraid of a challenge. Among his proudest adventures was climbing the highest peak in the state of Colorado—not once, but twice—alongside his son, Bryan, creating memories the two would carry with them for a lifetime.
Above all else, Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man. He was an excellent provider who consistently put the needs of his family before his own. His grandchildren were instructed to call him if they ever had a “toy emergency.” No matter the circumstances, Charles always found a way to make sure the people he loved had what they needed. He worked hard, gave generously, and loved his family deeply. His strength, sacrifice, faith, and devotion were evident throughout his life, and the example he set will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Connie Blalock; his loving children, Allyson Yourkievitz (Greg) and Bryan Blalock; his grandchildren, Vince & Jessica Yourkievitz; his sister-in-law, JoAnn Shiflett (Wallace); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Bush Arbor Baptist Church from 12:00p.m. until service time.
