Mrs. Nancy Harper Peoples, age 86, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at a local healthcare facility.

Nancy was born in Hawkinsville, GA on November 16, 1939, daughter of the late John Turner Harper and the late Helen Lee Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joel “JD” Dennis Peoples, Sr.; her son, Robert Bruce Peoples; her grandson, Logan Dedmon; and her brothers, Johnny Harper and Billy Harper. While her sons were young, she and her husband were members and raised their family at Wilkerson Road Baptist Church. In their later years, she and JD were active members of Lakeview Baptist Church.

She consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own, and her home and heart were always open.

Above all, Nancy loved her family fiercely. She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister, but her greatest title was grandmother. Her grandchildren were her ultimate pride and joy, and she showered them with endless love, patience, and encouragement.

Survivors include her sons, John Peoples (Wanda), Joel Peoples, Jr. (Charla), Ken Peoples (Kay); her daughter in law, LaShawn Peoples; her grandchildren, Cody Peoples (Casey), Jarred Peoples, Van Gunter, Bryant Gunter (Courtney), Katelyn Bailey (Jake), JoEllen Stephenson (Luke), Chris Alford (Shana), Ken Peoples, Jr. (Miranda), Hope Crabtree, Chuck Peoples (Grace), Debbie Driver (James), Kurt Peoples, Elora Dedmon, David Peoples and Parker Peoples; her 21 great grandchildren; her 2 great grandchildren; her brother, Herbert Harper; and her sisters, Virginia Brock and Betty Abney.
