Gordon County property owners are set for significant local tax relief, as county commissioners formally recommend rolling back the maintenance and operations millage rate to 7.7 mills—the lowest county property tax rate since 2002.

Bolstered by over $4 million collected during the first five months of the voter-approved one-percent FLOST, the reduction is projected to save owners of an average $250,000 homestead approximately $618 this year.

Gordon County Administrator Jim Ledbetter announced that public hearings on the tax rate are scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with a final vote set for October.
