Gregory Joe Carter, 46 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he assaulted and nearly killed a 22 year-old man during an altercation on Reeceburg Road.
Reports said that Carter placed his arms around the victim’s neck and began to choke him.
Carter, while inside the home, then began to throw numerous household items, resulting in them breaking. Police said that items that were thrown and broken included tables, chairs and kitchenware. He is also accused of picking up a coffee table and throwing it at the victim, striking him in the head.
The victim reportedly suffered visible injuries on his head from the incident.
Carter is also accused of punching holes in the walls of the home and broke down a bedroom door.
Carter is charged with aggravated assault, battery and 2nd degree criminal damage to property.
