State Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R–Rome), who chairs the Georgia Senate Committee on Finance, has been appointed Vice-Chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) State and Local Taxation Task Force.

The task force, made up of 77 members including two co-chairs and two vice-chairs, examines emerging tax policy issues affecting state governments and develops recommendations aimed at helping legislatures modernize and strengthen their tax systems.

Hufstetler said the appointment provides an opportunity for Georgia to share its approach to tax policy while learning from other states.

“Serving as vice-chair of NCSL’s State and Local Taxation Task Force is an honor and a great opportunity to share what has worked here at home while learning from other states,” Hufstetler said. “As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, I know that responsible tax policy has played a key role in maintaining Georgia’s AAA bond rating and balanced budget through both strong and challenging economic times. I look forward to working with legislators across the country to modernize and bolster our tax systems while preserving the ability of states to make their own decisions.”
