AdventHealth Gordon is proud to recognize nurse Hunter Cochran as a recipient of the DAISY Award, an international recognition program that honors nurses for the exceptional care, compassion and clinical expertise they provide to patients and families.
Cochran was nominated by both a patient’s family member and a fellow team member, each sharing stories that exemplify his commitment to serving others both inside and outside the hospital.
One nomination described the care Cochran provided to a patient who arrived at AdventHealth Gordon’s Emergency Department requiring urgent intervention. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to establish access, Cochran was called in to assist. Throughout the medical emergency, he demonstrated calm professionalism, answered the family’s questions and provided reassurance during a frightening and uncertain time. The family noted that his compassion, patience and dedication helped ease their concerns and brought comfort to their loved one as she recovered.
A second nomination highlighted Cochran’s character beyond his clinical responsibilities. While off duty, he observed fellow nurses assisting a patient who had run into a roadway. Without hesitation, Cochran stopped his vehicle and joined the effort to help ensure the child’s safety, demonstrating the same commitment to caring for others that he brings to every shift.
