Floyd County Man Accused of Aggressive Contact With Protected Victim

Barry Smith, 82 of Rome, has arrested as the accused in a felony aggravated stalking case stemming from an incident on July 8, 2026.

According to the filing, Smith went to 2520 Shorter Avenue around 12:15 p.m., where he allegedly made contact with the victim in an aggressive manner.

The report states Smith was aware of an active Temporary Protective Order (TPO) at the time of the encounter, elevating the offense to a felony under Georgia law.
