A 35-year-old Cedartown woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say she was caught with property allegedly stolen from a neighboring mobile home and later attempted to conceal evidence while officers investigated. According to an incident report from the Cedartown Police Department, officers responded to Sycamore Mobile Home Park on Georgia Avenue after a witness reported seeing a woman enter a neighboring residence and leave with what appeared to be a cup of ramen noodles.

The witness told officers she watched the woman enter a trailer at Lot 112 without permission before returning to her residence at Lot 120. She also reported that the same residence had recently been the target of another theft involving a black duffel bag.

A juvenile who lives at Lot 112 also told police she witnessed the woman enter the home and remove an item before leaving through the back door. The juvenile further alleged that the same woman had entered the residence several days earlier and stolen her black duffel bag containing personal belongings.

Officers then made contact with the suspect at Lot 120. According to the report, the woman invited officers inside, where they found another woman later identified as Charlenyea White, 35, of Cedartown, sitting on a bed eating what appeared to be a freshly prepared cup of ramen noodles. Officers also observed a black duffel bag matching the description of the stolen property in plain view.

When questioned, White reportedly claimed her mother had given her the ramen noodles several days earlier and denied taking anything from the neighboring residence. She also told officers she did not know where the duffel bag had come from, saying someone had left it at her home.

After obtaining matching descriptions of the suspect from both the witness and the juvenile, officers returned to arrest White. Police said White refused repeated commands to come out of a bathroom after being informed she was under arrest. According to the report, an officer drew a department-issued Taser and warned White she would be tased if she did not comply. White then exited the bathroom without the Taser being deployed.

Investigators said they later discovered the black duffel bag concealed inside the room, believing White had attempted to hide it while officers were speaking with witnesses outside. The bag was recovered and returned to its owner.

Police also reported that two juveniles told officers White threatened them after being confronted inside the residence, allegedly telling them she would “beat their asses.”

After being transported to the Polk County Jail, officers said White initially provided a false name. Jail staff later identified her through fingerprint records.

White has been charged with first-degree burglary, tampering with evidence, giving false information to law enforcement, obstruction, and two counts of terroristic threats and acts.
