A former senior official with Advocates for Children is facing two new misdemeanor charges, adding to a growing list of allegations tied to an ongoing investigation, according to court records. Authorities say 64-year-old Scott Alan Sherwin, of Rome, was served with new warrants this week accusing him of public indecency.
According to affidavits, both alleged incidents took place inside the nonprofit’s facility on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Bartow County. Investigators say that on March 30, 2024, Sherwin took and later shared an explicit photo of himself in a public restroom at the building. A second incident is alleged to have occurred on October 31, 2024, involving another explicit image taken and posted online.
Sherwin was previously arrested on March 5 at his home in Rome and remains in custody at the Bartow County Jail.
He is already facing 31 felony-related charges, including 15 counts of sexual extortion and 15 counts of first-degree forgery. Authorities allege those charges stem from accusations that Sherwin attempted to coerce a male individual into providing explicit images in exchange for falsifying community service records. He also faces a charge of making false statements.
