The Polk County Board of Commissioners addressed a range of county business this week, including recognitions, election-related fees, public safety updates and interagency agreements.

During the meeting, commissioners recognized Allen Davis of Polk County Public Works as the county’s Employee of the Month for February, honoring his service and contributions.

Commissioners also approved a resolution setting the qualifying fee for candidates seeking the office of county commissioner in Districts 1, 2 and 3 for the 2026 election. The qualifying fee was set at $409.42.

In matters related to public safety, the board approved a recommendation from the Public Safety Committee to update the Polk County Local Emergency Operations Plan, ensuring the county remains prepared for emergency situations.

The board approved a memorandum of understanding with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Office, continuing the county’s partnership in providing educational and outreach services to residents.

Commissioners also approved an agreement with The Conservation Fund to provide funding assistance for maintenance of the Santa Claus Tract, a protected natural area in the county.

No action was taken on a proposed resolution that would have authorized the county’s participation in the Cedartown, Georgia Allocation District No. 1 related to the Martha Berry Highway.
