Douglas Berry Jones, age 76. of Edgewater, Florida, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Edgewater.
Mr. Jones was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 8, 1949, son of the late Robert Jones and the late Bonnie Haigwood. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Rube & Det Haigwood. He grew up in Rome, Georgia and attended East Rome High School. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years as a carpenter and electrician. Mr. Jones loved motorcycles and was an advocate for people with disabilities.
Doug was a true southern gentleman. He would do for others when he wasn’t able to do for himself. His beard and hair always let children see Santa out and about. He so enjoyed seeing their little faces. Doug touched so many with his loving spirit.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jones; a stepson, Brian Reidy; two sisters, Miriam Cushard and Cyndi Hufstetler; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 30, 2025, at 1pm at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The Rome American Legion Honor Guard will present military honors.
