James Dewayne Barker, 40 of Lindale, was arrested in Rome after reports said he stole and sold a 2005 Nissan Altima for scrap.
Police stated that Barker used a deceased person’s identity to sell the car to Dempsey Towing. He also allegedly used the victim’s identity to sign a bill of sale. Reports added that the vehicle did not belong to the victim, but rather to a woman who was still alive.
The vehicle was taken from the Circle K at the Park and Ride lot on Catersville Highway on May 24th.
Barker is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, felony theft by deception and identity fraud.
