Gordon County deputy sheriffs on patrol on US Highway 41 near Resaca stopped a suspicious automobile with 3 occupants late this week.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed large quantities of illegal drugs, and illegally held firearms. All 3 were arrested at the scene without incident. The 3 are identified as follows:
1. Margie Russell, age 50, of Calhoun
2. Cody Anderson, age 33, of Dalton
3. Kelly Parks, age 42 , of Sugar Valley
Russell was already a fugitive at the time of her arrest, being sought pursuant to warrants charging her with theft. All 3 were charged with drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, and weapons violation. Russell, who has at least 30 prior arrests in this jurisdiction, faces additional charges of bringing drugs across a (jail) guard line.
