Roger Dale Barnhart, 46 of Aragon, was arrested this week after reports said he was found lying to police during an investigation into a hit and run.
Police said that Barnhart told police that he was out of state at the time of the accident in January. Police later discovered that his statements was not true. Barnhart is also accused of telling police that his car had been stolen and that there was a report in Bartow County where it happened. Police later discovered that no report existed.
Barnhart is charged with false statements and writings.
