Ricardo Almeida Rivera, 28 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he hit, punched and grabbed the necks of police officers in an attempt to avoid being apprehended.

The incident occurred after Rivera allegedly shoved a 29 year-old woman at a home on Shadowbrook Drive.

The incident occurred in front of four small children.

Officers were dispatched by neighbors who saw Rivera intoxicated and yelling in public.

Rivera is charged with three counts felony obstruction, three counts misd obstruction, four counts cruelty to children, simple battery and public drunk.
