Kevin Cruz-Rico, 17 of Rome, was jailed this week after he and others attempted to shoot a police officer during a chase.
Reports said that Cruz-Rico was a passenger inside a vehicle that was being stopped. During the stop, another suspect jumped into the driver’s seat and fled away with Cruz-Rico in the car.
He later fled on foot before pulling out a firearm and discharging it toward officers.
He was captured a short time later.
Cruz-Rico is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by an person under 21, possession of a fire during the commission of a crime and felony obstruction.
