Carlos Jamiane Sams Jr, 18 of Rome, was arrested this week after he abandoned a Glock handgun in front of children while he was running from police.
Sams was captured after a chase hiding inside a vehicle on Crane Street.
The incident started on Maple Avenue near East 17th Street.
Sams is charges with entering an automobile with intent to commit a theft, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, reckless conduct and obstruction.
