A 38 year-old Rome man, Terrance Cunningham, was sentenced to six years in prison along with nine years of probation and must pay approximately $5,000 in funeral costs after killing a motorcyclist in March 2023.

Cunningham is quoted in court saying, “I never meant for this to happen…I went to a family gathering and had a few drinks and I didn’t think I was too impaired to drive.”

Cunningham’s blood alcohol level was registered .201 despite the legal limit in Georgia being .08.

He was also found with an open bottle of tequila in the car.

Cunningham pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and DUI.


A 37 year-old Rome man, Terrance Marquis Cunningham, was arrested this week after he was accused of striking and killed another man on a motorcycle.

Reports said that the wreck occurred at 10:16 Friday night near the intersection of Redmond Circle and Hillside Road.

Authorities said that Cunningham crossed the center line and struck Higgins head on.

The man killed has been identified as 41  year-old Cody Higgins of Rome.

Cunningham is charged with homicide in the first degree, DUI, open container, improper turn and probation violation.
