According to reports, The Summit Hills Foods plant (Former Southeastern Mills) in downtown Rome will be sold on December 31st and will subsequently closed.

Vice President of Human Resources Jason Marion issued a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification) to the Rome City Commission to notify them that all of the plants 80 employees will be terminated at the end of the year.

Marion is quoted to say, “This action is permanent. It is not known at this time whether any of the terminated employees will be employed after December 31, 2023, by the purchaser… The employees at the plant are not represented by a union.”

The change from Southeastern Mills to Summit Hills occurred with the purchase in 2020.
