Shelley Marie Peppers, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she assaulted her niece with a laundry basket as well as her fist.
Reports added that Peppers was under the influence of drugs at the time of the assault.
The incident occurred at a home on Fairhaven Road.
Peppers is charged with simple assault.
