A now-former teacher at Armuchee High School, Brian Glenn Cross, 46 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found in possession of lewd images of prepubescent female genitalia.
Police said that Cross was arrested following a long-term investigation by the Floyd County Police.
Officers found numerous sexually explicit images of numerous minors.
Cross was terminated from his employment with Floyd County Schools on Thursday.
He also recently volunteered with the Darlington cross-country program as a parent.
Cross is charged with possession of material depicting a minor in sexually explicit conduct.
Update: Cross was charged with 26 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of photos depicting a minor in sexually explicit conduct.
