Denna Rochelle Conaway, 54 of Rome, was arrested this week for filing nearly $2 million in fake hospital insurance claims.
Reports said that in October 2022, November 2022, and January 2023 she sent in fraudulent paperwork stating that she or her son had medical procedures done at the hospitals.
Conaway procured $10,250 from her insurance company for a procedure in Yuma, Oklahoma that she never received. She had submitted a claim for $81,233.95.
A month later, she submitted a claim from a hospital in Miami, Florida for $35,618. She had claimed her son had had a procedure there, however, no record was found.
Then in January of this year, Conaway submitted a claim for a procedure at a Los Angeles, California hospital for $1,140,167. Again, no record of any procedure was found.
Conaway is charged with three counts first degree forgery and three counts insurance fraud.
