Marcus Anthony Scott, 23 of Rome, was arrested this week for his role in shooting a man in the buttocks and leg back on May 31 of this year.

Reports said Scott and several others shot the victim at a home on Brandon Lane.

Police stated that the suspects discharged the firearm near the road striking not only the victim but into the home.

The suspects then kicked in the door to the home in order to burglarize it.

Scott is also accused of reporting that his vehicle used in the attack had been stolen and that he had no part in the shooting.

Scott is charged with aggravated assault, false report of a crime, discharging a firearm near a roadway, first degree burglary, aggravated battery and two counts criminal damage to property.

PREVIOUS ARREST IN THE CASE

Nicholas Dimetrious Alexander Butts, 31, Tahiri Durand Tobert, 20, and Trayron Marquez Bexley, 28, all of Rome, were arrested this week after they allegedly drove past a home on Brandon Lane and discharged a firearm from a moving vehicle.  The home of the victim was struck numerous times before the group exited the car and went inside the residence without permission.

Police said that they were captured a short time later near the intersection of Smith Road and Manning Lake Roads.

The driver of the vehicle, Butts, was also cited for failing to maintain his lane of travel. During a search of the vehicle, they found the stolen handgun, highly concentrated THC oil as well as multiple packages of marijuana.

All are charged with possession/distribution of marijuana, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of crime and theft by receiving stolen property.

Tolbert and Bexley are both additionally charged with aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, aggravated battery, discharging a firearm near a roadway, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Bexley is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Butts is additionally charged with possession of a firearm druing the commission of a felony, failure to maintain lane and driving without license in possession and probation violaiton.
