A convicted felon, Ashley Mandrell Watkins, 40 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she found then kept a 9mm handgun while cleaning a room at the Saga Inn.
Police said that Watkins gave several different accounts of what happened to the firearm before leading then to its location.
Watkins is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
