Edgar Louis Brand, 64 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he shoved his 86 year-old mother to the ground at a home on Perkins Street.
Officers added that when they arrived on scene Brand became combative with them in an attempt to fight in an effort to avoid arrest.
Brand is charged with battery, intimidation of the elderly and felony obstruction.
