Stephen Aron Trotter, 36 of Cave Spring, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to shoot a dog with a .38 revolver near Padlock Mountain Road.
Reports stated that Trotter, who was intoxicated at the time of the shooting, is a convicted felon. Police added that five rounds was shot toward the dog.
Authorities went on to say that neighbors were outside playing witth a child at the time of the incident.
Trotter is charged with cruelty to animals, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm under the influence of alcohol and probation violation.
