Edward Lamar Baker, 55 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he attached his elderly mother and brother before spitting on arresting officers.

Police said that they were dispatched to a home on Wayside Road in repose to Baker acting in disorderly manner.

Reports stated that Baker punched out a window while yelling at his mother, telling her that he was going to tell police that she injured him. Baker then proceeded to allegedly throw a baseball bat at his brother.

Baker was taken to a local hospital, where he continued to to act in a disorderly manner. Police said that Baker used abusive language while in the presence of others.

After being taken to the jail, Baker refused to cooperate with officers by exiting the car. When officers removed Baker he allegedly spat in the face of officers.

Baker is charged with felony intimidation of the elderly, criminal trespass, two counts disorderly conduct, public drunk and simple battery against a police officer.
