One of Rome’s longtime locally owned restaurants The Homestead has closed its doors for good.

The Homestead, located on Kingston Highway near Etwoah Park, has numerous small closures since the start of COVID, but was apparently never able to establish enough business to survive the pandemic.

A sign on the door says that the restaurant will be closed on Oct 1, 2 and 3, but has yet to reopen.  The telephone number to the store is also disconnected.  On Facebook, their hours are listed as “permanently closed”.

The longtime restaurant was well known around the area for its salad and pinto bean and cornbread bar.
