David Brooks Dempsey, 57 of Rome, was jailed this week after he allegedly grabbed a woman by the arm, leaving a red mark, while engaged in a verbal dispute.
Reports said that the incident occurred at his home on Warren Road.
Dempsey is charged with battery.
