James Edward Cox, 50 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to murder another when he attacked them with an unidentified deadly weapon.
Reports said that the victim suffered a large gash to the head, resulting in numerous stitches.
While being taken into custody, police said that they found him in possession of two glass smoking devices containing meth residue.
