Tevin Shemar McKnigt, 33 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he injured a child when he whipped them with a belt.
Reports stated that the belt buckle struck the child and left a visible injury.
Reports added that the incident occurred back in September at a home on Grover Street.
McKnight is charged with battery.
