A Floyd County Prison employee, Samuel James Kendrick, 25 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he allowed work detail inmates to have alcohol, tobacco and a cell phone.

Reports said that the inmates were given the items while working at Model and Johnson Elementary Schools.

Reports added that Kendrick allowed the inmates to have the items after they paid him cash.

Kendrick is charged with bribery, items prohibited by an inmate and violation of oath by a public officer.
