Joshua Brandon Morrison, 32 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said injured a woman when he placed his hands around her neck and slammed her to the floor of her Lindale home.
The victim had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred in front of four young children.
Morrison is charged with aggravated assault and four counts cruelty to children.
