Isaac Lamar Chaney, 37 of Rome, was jailed this week after police said he beat a 24 year-old man with a pistol at the Cottis Inn on Martha Berry Blvd.

Reports said that Chaney hit the victim in the face, causing his eye and mouth to shut.

While being taken into custody police stated that he resisted officers commands.

During an investigation Chaney was also found to be in possession of cocaine, meth, digital scales and baggies.

They added that he then proceeded to attempt to conceal a baggie of suspected meth.

Chaney is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence,  possession of meth, possession of cocaine, battery, obstruction and possession of drug related objects.
