Jeremy Wayne Johnston, 38 of Rome, was jailed this week after police said he stole a bicycle from a location on East 1st Avenue and then proceeded to ride to the site of the former Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House where he was attempting to commit another theft.
Police said that while at the construction site he attempted to steal a Caterpillar construction vehicle.
The equipment was taken to a location on North 2nd Avenue where it was found inside a fence.
Johnston is charged with felony theft and theft, and loitering and prowling.
