Jimmy Lee Ashworth, 35 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he threw a 32 year-old woman on the floor before grabbing her by the neck, preventing her from breathing, and then forbidding her to leave the home.
He then proceeded to get the victim’s cellphone and break it in an effort to stop her from calling for help.
Ashworth is then accused of hitting the woman in the face with a Styrofoam cup containing water .
The incident occurred in front of two children, both under the age of 8.
Ashworth is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery, terroristic threats and acts, criminal trespass, and two counts cruelty to children.
