Authorities said that a 57- year old Rockmart man, Eddie Dwayne Waters, was killed Wednesday in Rome after tree fell and hit him on the head.
They added that the incident occurred just after 4 pm at a home on Orchard Spring Drive. Authorities added that Waters and several others were attempting to cut down a tree when it got caught on another tree before falling on him.
Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor pronounced Waters dead at the scene at 5:10. The cause of death was listed as massive head trauma.
