John Fitzgerald Matthews, 52 of Rome, was arrested after he was accused of intentionally damaging a sprinkler head at the Floyd County Prison.
Reports said that Matthews was in an individual segregation cell when he broke the sprinkler causing water to flood his cell.
Warrants stated that the incident occurred back on June 22 of this year.
Matthews is charged with interference with government property.
