Amos Andrew Gibson, 28 of Rome, was arrested Tuesday on Fortune Street after authorities were notified that a car was parked in another resident’s parking spot.

Reports said that when police arrived they looked inside the car and saw what appeared to be a gun and marijuana in plain sight.

Police said that Gibson walked up to them and told them that the car belonged to him and before giving them permission to run the gun’s numbers through dispatch.

After asking Gibson if there was anything else in the car, officers said that he fled the scene on foot.

A foot chase then ensued, in which Gibson jumped a fence, but was quickly captured after he got stuck in the mud.

A search of the car resulted in police finding a mason jar with marijuana, another bag of marijuana, a digital scale and a bottle containing suspected cocaine.

Gibson is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felony obstruction, possession of cocaine, two counts of purchase, possession, distribution or sale of marijuana and possession of marijuana near a housing project.
