Former Pepperell Middle School teacher Anthony Hicks, 29, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and 55 years on probation after pleading guilty in Floyd Superior Court to sending inappropriate text messages to a 13 year-old student .

A teacher at Pepperell Middle School has been arrested for misconduct with a student following an investigation that showed he was using social media to message obscene pictures to students. School officials received information about possible inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student on Monday and contacted the Floyd County Police Department. Investigators subsequently discovered that 28 year old Anthony Hicks of Rome was using social media and text messages to communicate with a student 13 years of age.
As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Mr. Hicks. The teacher is charged with Child Molestation, Sexual Assault by a Teacher, Obscene Internet Contact with a Child, Possession of material Depicting a Minor in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to a Child.
