Christopher Michael Jones, 26 of Rome, was arrested over the weekend after authorities stated that the beat a 4 year-old male child with a belt.
Reports said that Jones allegedly used a belt to beat the child on the behind and his legs.
Police stated that the child had visible redness, welts and bruising.
Reports added that police were notified by a neighbor who heard the altercation occurring.
Jones is charged with felony cruelty to children in the first degree.
