Two suspects were booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday for allegedly setting fire to a car and then reporting it stolen in order to get insurance money.

David Wayne Williams, 47 of Monroe, and Donna Gail Warren, 50 of Calhoun, allegedly set fire to Warren’s 1995 Chevrolet S-10 near the intersection of Smith and Manning Lake Road back on April 21st of this year.

The truck was valued at $3,500.

Reports stated that Warren told police the truck had been stolen and proceeded to file an insurance claim.  Reports added that she later told police that they purposely set the truck on fire.

Williams and Warren both face felony charges of first-degree arson and insurance fraud. Warren is additionally charged with misdemeanor false report of a crime.

Williams is also charged in another crime for knowingly selling a stolen 1989 Cutlas for $300.

He is charged with theft by receiving stolen property and theft by deception.
